Have Some Fun, Possibly Win Some Money And Help The OTMG Help Odiham

by otmg on Sunday 22nd June

GWLThe OTMG (Odiham Town Manager Group (CiC) aims to “To provide a vibrant and sustainable retail and commercial community for the benefit of the residents and businesses of Odiham alike. This is to be carried out through events and the promotion of the village of Odiham. The group is recognised by both Hart District Council and Hampshire County Council, and the OTMG, with the help of the local community, retailers and business's puts a lot of work, and funding, into organising events such as last weekends, Blues and Booze In The Bury and The Odiham Christmas Extravaganza and many more.

As already mentioned, The OTMG meets these objectives through the organisation of local events such as the weekly street markets, the Christmas Extravaganza, periodic farmers’ markets and food festivals. It also provides support for activities run by others.

Apart from generous support from the Odiham Parish Council to part fund the Annual Extravaganza, it has little external funding. To prosper it must raise its own money.

Everyone can help the OTMG help Odiham by joining the Great Weather Lottery. Application Forms are available from the George Hotel or you can join online and get more information here .

It's fun to play, and you could win up to £10,000!

All you need to do is: complete the membership form, select six single numbers 0—9, and return the completed form to Reception at the George. Each selection of six numbers will cost £1 per week. That is 20p for each daily draw from Monday to Friday in which your selected digits are matched against the last digit of the officially recorded temperature (F) at six locations -

Corfu(3)
Istanbul(4)
Tenerife(0)
Innsbruck(0)
Edinburgh(5)
Stockholm(1)

Using the digits in brackets, as an example, the winning number for that day would be “340051”. Match 3 numbers in sequence and you win £2, match 4 numbers in sequence and you win £20, match 5 numbers in sequence and you win £200 and match 6 numbers in sequence and you win £10,000 and you don't even need to check your numbers as your winnings are sent to you automatically so you can just relax and wait for the cheques to arrive.

Help the OTMG to help Odiham, and remember - It might be you.

Is this thing on *tap tap*

Well, if you can see this then the upgrade has worked. Time to pop the cork on that bottle of champagne you've been saving for a special occasion.

The main aim of this upgrade was to move the site over to gencon's servers. This should mean a much faster site with better response times all round. Although not a great deal has changed on the front end you will notice a few tweaks here and there.

  • The search box has been tidied up so it takes up less real estate
  • User profiles have been given a much cleaner layout (take a look at mine to see what I mean), so get updating your profiles people
  • Blog posts now have free tagging. Tags are keywords or labels that you can add to your post that give it more context, and allow users to view posts grouped by tags (Cathy has been begging for this functionality for a while now). For a great example of tagging have a look at flickr. It sounds much more complicated than it actually is, and I'm sure Cathy will be on hand to help you if you get stuck
  • I've tidied up the event listings to make them a little easier on the eye

There's still a lot of work to be done, and no doubt there will be some bugs that have slipped by my radar, but I think this is a great start and now allows us to really push ahead with some of the other features that you've been clamouring for.

If you do find anything isn't working as you expected, or the site doesn't look quite right for you then please leave a comment and I'll see what I can do.

Enjoy.

Site upgrade - aka - "Hey! Why can't I post anything?"

by garrett on Tuesday 15th August

This is your friendly neighbourhood webmaster here. How is everyone, good? Excellent, that's what I like to hear.

In preparation for some some exciting new functionality that we'll be unveiling in the next couple of weeks I have to perform some upgrades to the site. To save my sanity and ensure things don't go pear-shaped during the upgrade I've disabled everyone's ability to post any new content or comments.

This is only a temporary measure and normal service will be resumed before the end of the week.

If you have any questions about what's involved then please feel free to drop me a line.
